Description
This walking route is highly recommended for lovers of mountains and spectacular views. The walk starts at the Bezbog Hut, which you can reach by chairlift from Dobrinishte.
This is the Dobrinishte ski resort.
Prefer to do it entirely on foot? Then you can also walk up, which takes about 1.5 to 2 hours.
Once you arrive at the chairlift’s mountain station, the hut is just a few metres’ walk from the beautiful Lake Bezbog. From here, the route to the summit of Bezbog begins.
You’ll first walk alongside the lake, with views of the imposing mountain peak you’re about to climb. Then a fairly steep climb begins along a rocky and uneven mountain path.
As soon as you reach the first ridge, you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views of other peaks in the Pirin Mountains and mountain lakes, including the famous Lake Popovo.
The path remains fairly flat here for a few hundred metres, after which you turn right at a junction. From that point, the route begins to climb gradually once more.
This section of the walk requires a bit of extra care. You’ll be walking over large loose stones here, and in winter – and even well into spring – there may be patches of snow on the route.
This is followed by the final part of the ascent: the steepest and most challenging section of the route. You’ll climb towards the summit over loose stones, whilst the views become increasingly impressive.
Once you reach the top, your reward awaits: a stunning panoramic view of the valley, the surrounding mountain lakes and the many peaks of the Pirin Mountains.
Feel free to take a moment here to enjoy the view. The rocks around the summit are an ideal spot to have a bite to eat or a drink before you begin your descent.
Back at Lake Bezbog, you can relax at the Bezbog Hut or the cosy tea house next door. With views of the lake, this is the perfect way to round off an unforgettable walk.
