Practical route information

Description

This walking route is ideal for the whole family. The path is virtually flat, easy to walk on, and there are plenty of places along the way to pause and enjoy the surroundings.
An added bonus is that you can combine the walk with a ride on the Rhodope narrow-gauge train. From Dobrinishte, you can easily travel back to Bansko on this historic train, making the route a unique and complete day out.

The walk starts at Bansko's central square. From here, walk south to the smaller square by the church. Turn left there and walk into the old town.
Take your time here to admire the atmospheric streets and traditional architecture. Keep left and walk past the Groshe supermarket. At the end of the street, cross the ring road and walk into the meadows.
You then walk through an open landscape with beautiful views of the mountains. After a while, you reach a beautiful little church with a wooden bell tower, a lovely spot to pause and enjoy the peace.

As you continue along the road, you enter a greener and more wooded part of the route. Here you reach the St. Nikola Waterfall, a beautiful spot where the hiking trail to the Nameless Town also begins.
At the waterfall, you will find picnic tables where you can rest for a moment while enjoying the sound of the flowing water and the nature around you.

After the waterfall, turn right and walk once again through an open landscape with meadows and beautiful vistas.
Eventually, you reach Dobrinishte. From here, you only need to walk down the street to reach the central square.
Finish the hike with a well-deserved drink on one of the terraces and then board the historic narrow-gauge train for a relaxing ride back to Bansko. A beautiful conclusion to a wonderful day of hiking.
